Please make note of the following when applying:
PCUSA Ministers who are members of other presbyteries and are laboring within the bounds of the Presbytery of New Hope must:
Consent to a background check
Consent to an EP to EP check
Provide three references
Meet with New Hope’s Exams & Transfers Sub-Commission
Candidates and Inquirers under care of New Hope must:
Have completed at least one preaching & worship course
Submit a transcript
Candidates and Inquirers under care of another presbytery must:
Submit a letter of reference from the chair of their presbytery’s CPM
Consent to an EP to EP check.
All applicants from outside the PCUSA must:
Provide contact information for three references
Meet with New Hope’s Exams and Transfers Sub-Commission
A Commissioned Ruling Elder Candidate is in the process of their training to become a CRE, is under care of New Hope, has received session endorsement, been certified by COM for a commissioning, but has not yet received approval for commissioning.
A Commissioned Ruling Elder has been interviewed and assessed by the Commission on Ministry’s CRE Sub team, has completed an approved educational program and supervised practical ministry, and is ordinarily commissioned to specific service in a pastoral role(s) in a particular congregation within the Presbytery of New Hope.
A Qualified Ruling Elder is a person previously commissioned as a CRE but who does not have an active commission. A QRE must consent to a background check and an EP to EP check (if applicable), provide three references and a transcript of coursework.
