New Worshipping Communities

The Presbytery of New Hope is home to three new worshipping communities.

They are part of the PCUSA’s 1001 New Worshipping Communities initiative. Oversight, support, and mentoring is provided by the presbytery’s Church Development and Evangelism Committee.

Farm Church in Durham

Farm Church is a worshiping community that meets on a farm and lives out the Gospel by leveraging the resources of the farm to address food insecurity. They operate with the assumption that the heart of church building is a longing by all individuals and families for community. Their emphasis, therefore, is on building a quality faith community in which individuals and families are known, understood, and cared for in all seasons of life and have the opportunity to return the favor to others. Through agricultural work, food-focused service, worship, and mutual care, they believe Jesus’ ministry of feeding is continued, each person’s soul is deepened, and their values are furthered.

They are a worshiping community of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and affirm the Reformed Tradition. They honor and affirm humanity’s God-given diversity, and so we welcome individuals of every age, race, nationality, gender, ability, sexual orientation, and economic circumstance to participate fully in the life of Farm Church. All are welcomed at Farm Church.

Jubilee International Fellowship in Wake Forest

Jubilee is a multicultural Fellowship located at 237 Friendship Chapel Rd, Wake Forest, NC. Their vision is to evangelize and disciple people of all nations, who live around Wake Forest, Wake Fields, Youngsville, Heritage, Forestville area, and Raleigh. Their core group is made up of African Americans, Caucasians, Asians, and Africans from African who have embraced the vision and spirit of diversity as defined in vision and lived out by its members in our community. Since the inception of Jubilee in May 2010, their primary mission objective has been ministry to and with college students. They recently expanded their family ministries.

Iglesia Santuario in Raleigh

Santuario’s vision is to know Jesus Christ and make him known to others. Their mission is to Go (Matthew 28:19), Love (1 John 4:8-11) and Live (Galatians 5:16). Santuario worships in the building and on the property of what was formerly Saint Barnabas Presbyterian Church. This worshiping community continues to grow in size and faith as they develop their Presbyterian presence and identity in the Latino community of Raleigh and build the structures and leadership necessary to sustain their witness. They are regular key contributors of talented volunteers to a consortium of ten Presbyterian congregations in Wake County who join together to build homes through Habitat for Humanity. One of the presbytery’s larger congregations has established a strong partnership with Santuario to train leaders, support Santuario’s Vacation Bible School programs, and provide administrative assistance.
