Passion Driven Ministry Grant
In 2015 New Hope Presbytery awarded its first round of Passion Driven Ministry partnership grants.
Over the course of the last few years, a variety of churches, people, and organizations have been able to put into fruition their vision for new and innovative ministry opportunities through the support of the grants. These ministries are transforming the way we serve our communities and how we work together serving Christ.
Applications are reviewed by a committee of the Coordinating Body on a rotating basis. See the Timeline below for the full schedule of deadlines and response dates. Each grant may request up to $5,000, and up to $35,000 in Passion Driven Ministry partnership grants will be awarded for 2023. When these funds are exhausted, no further applications will be accepted. Please note: funding awards for PDM partnership grants only cover a single year, but a project may reapply annually for additional funds, up to a three-year maximum.
Elements of a Successful Passion Driven Ministry
- Connects with two or more congregations and/or entities (i.e., non-profit, corporations, community-based organizations, etc.) in ways that exemplify models of ministry built around partnership and relationship.
- Project leaders or sponsors have participated in the New Hope Presbytery-sponsored PDM orientation webinar or viewed the webinar where Presbytery priorities will be taught and modeled.
- Emerging, innovative, or unique projects in the Presbytery that have not traditionally received funding
- Projects that develop and strengthen church leaders through training, mentoring, and intentional relationships.
- Projects that demonstrate sustainability and impact. In this context “sustainability” means having the capacity to continue, or to have a continuing effect, without continuous funding from Presbytery.
- Projects committed to engaging and supporting the work of God's Kingdom as it is embodied in local congregations, communities and ministries.
- Projects that demonstrate faithfulness, transparency, and accountability to their partners, their supporters, and New Hope Presbytery. Those projects that are awarded a PDM grant are required to submit quarterly reports on their status and use of funds.
Priority will be given to ministries, projects or programs which connect two or more congregations and/or entities (i.e. non-profit, corporations, community-based organizations, etc.) in ways which exemplify models of ministry built around partnership and relationship.
Strategies for a Successful Partnership
- Do some research to determine whether your type of partnership request is consistent with the Presbytery’s goals and objectives for partnership
- Provide responses which are typed, single-spaced, and use 11 or 12-point type. Submit in electronic format only.
- Submit your request electronically to pdm@nhpresbytery.org.
- At least the primary or co-applicant must have attended the Webinar or viewed the recording of the Webinar, to gain insight of best practices (View the Webinar)
- If this is a 2nd or 3rd year for the Ministry, Project or Program, the application must demonstrate how you are building upon, evolving or doing something new from the previous years.
- Do not include any materials other than those specifically requested at this time.
