Assistance Resources
The office of the Presbytery of New Hope often receives calls and emails from our neighbors seeking aid.
As a Matthew 25 presbytery we are striving to be more responsive and better equipped in our responses to these requests. At this time the Presbytery office does not provide direct financial assistance but recommends the following services from our member congregations and these community partners:
120 West Hargett Street in downtown Raleigh
Call 919-833-4070 on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 to schedule an appointment. You do need to be a Wake County resident.

It is the goal of First Presbyterian Church to partner in ministry with others in our community to spread the love of Christ—both among us as partners in ministry and as we reach out in unity to those who are in need or who do not yet know Him. At FPC, we value our connectedness with our fellow Christian servants in the community of Washington!
Urgent Need Assistance is administered weekly (on Mondays) through the FPC Deacon’s Fund, by appointment only, with funds generated from member support for the ministry rather than as a budgeted item.
Clients are requested to apply for assistance prior to coming. Assistance is available to Washington, NC residents following an application process for those who qualify. A list of other local agencies is supplied to those requesting assistance. Many of those agencies are supported by First Presbyterian financially as well as volunteer supported. They include, but are not limited to, the following:
Eagle’s Wings Food Pantry
Purpose of God Annex (Miracle Meals and Share Shop)
Zion Shelter & Food Kitchen (serving homeless men)
Open Door Community Center (shelter for homeless women and their children)
Ruth’s House (support for abused women)
The Salvation Army
Bright Futures (cooperative community assistance for school children and their families in need)
FPC’s Tiny Red Food Pantry (Our children stock a small outdoor “pantry” at the southeast corner of our parking area with contributions from our members. Joyfully, the pantry has also had contributions from the surrounding community when they have food to spare!)
